KidzPAN parental monitoring and parental-control service
Effective Date: 20 January 2026
Applies To: KidzPAN Parent App, Child App, and related services
1. About KidzPAN
KidzPAN is a parental monitoring and parental-control service. It is designed exclusively for a parent or legal guardian to monitor and manage the device of a child in their care. The KidzPAN Child app is installed on the child's device; the parent views activity and sets controls from their own KidzPAN parent account. KidzPAN must not be used to monitor any other person.
The child device displays a persistent notification and a clearly identified app icon at all times while monitoring is active. We do not hide or disguise the app's monitoring behaviour.
2. What we collect from the child's device
We only collect data after the person setting up the device has reviewed the in-app disclosure and tapped "I Agree & Continue." We collect:
- Precise location, including in the background (when the app is closed or not in use), so the parent can see where the device is for safety.
- Websites and web browsing history - the sites and domains visited in browsers on the device.
- Search terms entered in browsers and search apps on the device.
- App activity - which apps are installed, which apps are used and for how long (screen time), app launches, and attempts to open blocked or time-limited apps.
- Device information - a device identifier, device name, operating-system version, and a push-notification (FCM) token used to deliver control updates.
- Account information - the account email, child profile name, and the user/child/device identifiers needed to pair the device to the family account.
To detect the foreground app and read browser content for the features above, the KidzPAN Child app uses Android's Accessibility Service and Usage Access. The Accessibility Service is used only to deliver parental controls (enforcing limits, blocking restricted apps and websites, and recording the activity described above for the parent).
3. What we do NOT collect
We do not collect the contents of your notifications, messages, SMS, emails, photos, videos, audio, contacts, or calendar. The notification-access permission is used only to detect that a notification occurred, not to read or upload its contents.
4. How we use the data
We use the data solely to provide the parental-control and monitoring features: showing the parent the child device's location and activity, enforcing the app limits, screen-time rules, and website filters the parent configures, and sending alerts to the parent. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Who can see the data / sharing
The information collected from the child device is uploaded to the family's KidzPAN account and shown to the parent or guardian who set up the device.
We use Supabase (database and authentication) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) as service providers that process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We do not transfer your personal data to third parties for their own independent use, and we do not sell it.
6. Data retention
- Activity logs held on the child's device (such as captured searches and web activity) are automatically pruned after 7 days.
- Data stored in the family's KidzPAN account is retained while the device is paired and the account is active, and is deleted when the device is unpaired or the account is deleted (see "Your choices and deletion").
7. Security
- All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Sensitive activity logs cached on the child's device are stored using Android EncryptedSharedPreferences (AES-256).
- Access to account data is restricted to the authenticated family account.
8. Your choices and deletion
- Location is optional. The device can be set up without granting location; the other parental-control features will still work.
- A parent can stop collection at any time by removing the child device from their KidzPAN account or uninstalling the KidzPAN Child app.
- To request deletion of the data associated with an account, a parent can delete the child/device from the parent app, or contact us at support@kidzpan.com (or use the deletion request page at https://kidzpan.com/account-deletion). We will delete the associated personal data.
9. Children's data
KidzPAN processes a child's data on behalf of, and at the direction of, the parent or legal guardian who controls the family account and who provides consent for the collection described here.
